Fondazione Museo del Violino Antonio Stradivari
For five centuries, Cremona has been the capital of violin making. At the Museo del Violino, visitors can explore the fascinating history of this artisanal excellence through an encounter with the great master luthiers and their masterpieces, retracing that balanced interplay of art and craftsmanship, creativity and tradition, that has linked violin-making workshops from the late Renaissance to the present day. The "The Treasure Trove" and "friends of Stradivari" rooms house instruments made by Amati, Stradivari, Guarneri, Rugeri, and Bergonzi: a collection unique in the world. Moreover, only here at the Museum is it possible to admire over 700 drawings, forms, and tools used by Stradivari in his workshop. Finally, the violins, violas, cellos, and double basses that won first prize in the "Triennale" International Competition represent contemporary violin making and its eclectic vitality.
