Duomo di Ravello
The Duomo of Ravello, dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta, is a Romanesque basilica of Benedictine-Cassinese layout built in the 11th century. During the Middle Ages it was enriched with works of great value — including the Rogadeo ambo, the bronze door panels, the pulpit and the ciborium — and its walls were probably frescoed. In the eighteenth century, by then in a state of decay, it was covered with Baroque stuccos. The restorations begun in 1973 have restored the Romanesque character of the naves, leaving the Baroque decoration of the transept intact.
