This section introduces the visitor to the world of coffee and the resulting social relationships that have emerged around an espresso.

"Shall we have a coffee?" The gesture of having a coffee together is so natural that it is assumed to have always existed: the presence of a cup in front of which to meet seems inherent to the very concept of a relationship.

When, where, and how was espresso born?

This section provides some spatial and temporal coordinates on the birth of espresso.

But when, where, and how was espresso born? It was born from a sort of collective genius: many people, at different historical moments, for different needs, have contributed with their inventiveness, adding essential pieces to make it as we understand it today, simply as espresso. Without a coffee machine, espresso would not exist, the starting point of the story told at MUMAC where the machine is the cornerstone around which innovations and technologies developed over time revolve.

History and path

This section provides an overview of the museum path related to the evolution of espresso coffee.

The rooms unfolding before us are a snapshot of different eras with lifestyles and references to the design of the historical period, featuring significant figures in the industry whose insights and inventiveness allow us to savor an excellent cup of coffee today. This is accompanied by the discovery of the evolution of the definition of "espresso" coffee and the figure of those who use the machines, as well as the habits and customs of consumption related to the drink over time. Through the exhibition, we discover what has led from the origins to the present day, with an eye on tomorrow, so as not to forget that Heritage is the root for the wings of the future.
