Guided Tour — Ravello Cathedral Ravello Cathedral
The Cathedral of Ravello, dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta (the Assumption of the Virgin Mary), is a Romanesque basilica of Benedictine-Cassinese design, built in the 11th century. Throughout the Middle Ages, it was enriched with works of great artistic value — including the Rogadeo ambo, the bronze door panels, the pulpit, and the ciborium — and its walls were likely adorned with frescoes. By the 18th century, having fallen into a state of disrepair, it was covered with Baroque stucco decorations. The restoration work begun in 1973 has restored the Romanesque character of the naves, while leaving the Baroque decoration of the transept intact.
