Castello di Gropparello

Perched on a wild landscape like an eagle's nest, Gropparello Castle (8th-13th centuries) impresses visitors with its turreted monumental complex, which offers a variety of scenic views throughout the visit. With an irregular plan due to the rugged terrain, the castle is an example of medieval fortification. Built to defend the valley's access route, it stands on a large ophiolitic plateau with a ravine that descends to the Vezzeno stream, making the castle impregnable. Still the private residence of its owners, it houses a beautiful collection of musical instruments, some of which are housed in an antique games room.
