NevegalThe Way of the Cross - Nevegal Sanctuary
On the Nevegal, Franco Fiabane’s Stations of the Cross accompany the pilgrim along a woodland path up to the Sanctuary: fifteen stations carved directly into large blocks of Alpago stone. The cycle, spare and meditative, entrusts the narrative force of the episodes to gesture and to the interplay of solids and voids, with echoes of Martini and Michelangelo. The figures seem to emerge from the rock in dialogue with the landscape; at the entrance to the path there once stood a monumental Angel of Welcome, which is no longer preserved.
