Art Collection at Palazzo Farinosi Branconi
The BPER Banca collection housed at Palazzo Farinosi Branconi tells the story of five centuries of Italian painting through works drawn from different collecting nuclei, brought together for the first time in an exhibition open to the public. The heart of the collection took shape thanks to the advisory work of Ferdinando Bologna, the most important Abruzzese art historian of the twentieth century, whose choices lend the ensemble a precise and recognisable critical direction. Eleven rooms house paintings ranging from fifteenth-century Aquilan art to the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, with works by Cola dell'Amatrice, Luca Giordano, Mattia Preti, Salvator Rosa, and Francesco Paolo Michetti, among others. The dialogue with the palace's interiors — the frescoed rooms, the wooden ceilings, the pictorial cycles on the walls — is an integral part of the experience: not a mere backdrop, but a second narrative running parallel to that of the works themselves.
