"A Treasure Chest of Memories. Landscapes, Colour and Tradition: Five Centuries of Art from the South" - Standard Itinerary
The new Cultural Hub of La Galleria BPER opens in L'Aquila, in the restored Palazzo Farinosi Branconi, with the permanent itinerary "A Treasure Chest of Memories": five centuries of art from Abruzzo and central-southern Italy, from the Fifteenth century to the early Twentieth century, from the BPER Corporate Collection. The project brings back to the city part of the collection of the Cassa di Risparmio della Provincia dell'Aquila and tells the story of L'Aquila as a crossroads of exchanges with Marche, Umbria, Rome and Naples. On display are works from the Fifteenth-Sixteenth century (Saturnino Gatti, Master of the Crivellesque Polyptychs, Cola dell'Amatrice), the Neapolitan season of the Seventeenth-Eighteenth century (Giordano, Preti, Rosa, Solimena, de Matteis) and the Nineteenth century in Abruzzo (Michetti, Patini). Among the restorations, the Sala San Clemente stands out, while the palace itself, linked to the Branconio family, becomes part of the narrative on themes of memory and identity. The opening marks a new stage in the project "BPER Cultural Hubs. A System of Widespread Heritage".
