Among the beauties of the Amalfi Coast

    60 min

From Vietri sul Mare to Positano, the Amalfi Coast reveals itself as a succession of seaside villages, each with its own identity, its own rhythm, and its own history. This itinerary travels the coast from east to west, passing through colorful ceramics and majolica-tiled domes, terraced lemon groves and hidden fjords, Roman villas and medieval cathedrals, all the way to the vertical alleyways and iconic beaches of Positano. Each stop is three things at once: a historic center to explore on foot, a territory to discover off the beaten path, and a gastronomic tradition deeply rooted in the landscape. The tuna and colatura di alici — a prized anchovy sauce — from Cetara, the scialatielli ai frutti di mare from Amalfi, the lemons of Minori, the pasta of Gragnano, and the limoncello of Positano. The itinerary touches on well-known, larger towns — Amalfi, Ravello, Positano — but also lingers in quieter places: the Valle dei Tramonti, hidden inland among chestnut trees and footpaths; Atrani, the smallest village in Italy by surface area, nestled tightly between rock and sea; Scala, the forgotten town that gazes across at Ravello from the other side of the valley; and Furore, the town that isn't there, with its spectacular fjord and painted houses lining the road.
