The exhibition "The Brueghel Family. The Origins of Pictorial Genres in Europe" accompanies the visitor on a historical and artistic journey through more than 80 works including paintings, drawings and prints, to discover a "dynasty" of painters who contributed decisively, in the Netherlands, in Italy and in the rest of Europe, to the birth of future 'pictorial genres'. From snowy landscapes to storms, from still lifes to peasant life to battles, the system of pictorial genres would shape modern European painting as we know it today.
