A journey that explores the dark side of human history: the relationship between pain, faith, and power. Through authentic instruments and historical reconstructions, the Museum of Torture invites visitors to understand how violence has been used over the centuries as a means of control and fear. It is a journey to remember the cruelty of the past in order to recognize the profound value of freedom and human dignity.

The International Museum of Torture and Martyrdom in Grazzano Visconti tells the story of punishment, faith, and power through the instruments that have marked centuries of justice. The exhibition unfolds within the neo-medieval village founded by Giuseppe Visconti di Modrone, where Gothic imagery meets the historical reality of human cruelty.
Torture is divided according to its intended purpose: 1) Public ridicule and humiliation, 2) Forced extortion of confessions, 3) Punishment and deterrence, 4) Coercion and control, and 5) Religious martyrdom.
The exhibition also distinguishes between historically documented instruments and apocryphal ones, born of 19th-century sensationalism and the macabre taste of the neo-Gothic period.
