Trieste Synagogue Itinerary
This itinerary offers a historical, architectural, social, and religious overview of synagogues, particularly those in Trieste.
The "Carlo and Vera Wagner" Museum belongs to the Jewish Community of Trieste and displays a vast collection of objects and documents related to the Jewish history of Trieste, from the Middle Ages to the present. Inaugurated in 1993 and completely renovated in 2014-15, it occupies a location that is also a place of remembrance: the building, which once housed a Jewish hospital, was the headquarters of the committee that assisted Jewish emigration from Central and Eastern Europe in the first half of the 20th century. The Museum, in addition to its extensive permanent collection, offers temporary exhibitions and cultural and educational events, which it organizes in collaboration with the Department of Humanities of the University of Trieste.
