Forte Lisser

This fort - also known as the 'Lion of the Plateau' - was built between 1911 and 1914 and consists of a large building (63 m long by 15.5 m wide, almost 10 m tall) on two floors, with a battery of 4 cannons of 149 mm. It was part of the Brenta – Cismon Fortresses, along with Forte Cima Lan and Forte Cima Campo, with the purpose of controlling the Valsugana valley; however, Forte Lisser, given its position, could also intervene in the area of the Melette and the Piana di Marcesina. Internally, thanks to the recent restoration, one can admire the architecture of this fort and above all the work and the extraordinary craftsmanship of those who squared every stone by hand and, with great skill, managed to create arches that we still admire today for their perfection and beauty.
