Museo Correr: what to see
The museum is named after Teodoro Correr (1750-1830), who donated his collections to the city. The visit includes the neoclassical rooms with works by Antonio Canova, the Venetian Civilisation section on institutions, urban development and daily life in Venice, and the Quadreria with early Renaissance bronzes and ivories, Italian majolica and paintings by the Bellini, Carpaccio and Lorenzo Lotto. By reservation and with a qualified guide you can also visit the Royal Rooms, where Empress Elisabeth of Austria, known as Sissi, stayed.
