Mostra "Le porte dell’invisibile. Kandinskij, Klee, Malevič alla luce del pensiero di Pavel Florenskij” a Palazzo Magnani
The exhibition at Palazzo Magnani continues the exploration of space and vision begun with Escher (2013) and Piero della Francesca (2015). It sets abstract avant-garde art, Russian icons and Pavel Florensky (1882-1937) in dialogue. Florensky was a scientist, theologian and art theorist, known as "the Russian Leonardo". In the early twentieth century, art, science and technology were closely intertwined. The theories of Einstein, Riemann and Cantor pushed artists to move beyond naturalism and Renaissance perspective. For Florensky, reality has a temporal depth, a fourth dimension that art must reveal. The exhibition follows three paths: Kandinsky's spiritual geometries, Klee's fairytale-like abstraction, and the "pure mental" of Malevich and the Suprematists, including Klyun and Popova. The works are placed in dialogue with icons from the 15th to the 18th century. The exhibition is completed by the INFN immersive room "Curvare lo spazio" (Bending Space) and an interactive environment on the ground floor, designed with Grasselli and James Bradburne.
