Piazzale Cesare Battisti - Opere di Franco Fiabane
In Belluno, near the Museum of Migrations, the works of Franco Fiabane are preserved. Among them, Franco Fiabane's Monument to Emigrants (1991) is a white stone stele on a base of five blocks, each dedicated to a continent. Bas-reliefs on the four sides recount, in a collective and symbolic manner, the labor and tragedies of emigration from Belluno, evoking places such as Marcinelle, Mattmark and Robiéi. Spare and totemic, the monument blends civic memory with the dignity of work and bears the inscription: 'Near and far. Never alone. The people of Belluno in the world.'
