For the first time in seven centuries, the three surviving parts of the Gospel of Mark, now held in Cividale del Friuli, Venice and Prague, are brought together again in Aquileia, where their story began. At Palazzo Meizlik, the exhibition follows the history of a 6th-century manuscript that tradition held to have been written by the Evangelist himself. Venerated as a relic and contested by patriarchs and sovereigns, it tells of Aquileia's role as a crossroads between Western Europe and the Slavic world. The three parts of the Gospel of Mark, divided for seven centuries between Cividale, Venice and Prague, are reunited in Aquileia, the place where their story began.
